Building a world in which Palestinian children and families have full democratic rights.

The mission of the Samia A. Halaby Foundation is – inspired by the moral and political persuasions of Samia Halaby – to benefit working-class Palestinian children and women living within the borders of Mandate Palestine (1920-1948) and if this is not possible, then within Arab countries.

The Samia A Halaby Foundation is an artist-endowed foundation. Samia Halaby was born in Palestine in 1936 and lived there until 1948 when her family was expelled from her home. She now resides in the United States and is an artist. She endowed this foundation in 2019 to benefit women and children of Palestine.

We believe working class Palestinian children and women are benefitted through efforts that:

  • Are led by working-class Palestinian women and children themselves

  • Support perseverance (sumud) for local growth in Palestine

  • Believe in collectivism and collaboration rather than individualism

  • Possess a knowledge and understanding of Palestinian history

  • Inspire confidence, hope, and optimism in the Palestinian future

  • Do not demand unnecessary administrative efforts from those doing the work
